Virtual Press Conference & Fighter Scrums Happening At UFC 249

MMA

The UFC is running it’s first event since March next weekend with UFC 249, which is being headlined by former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson facing former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje for the vacant UFC Interim Lightweight Title

This event is going to be held in an empty arena setting due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that won’t stop the promotion from allowing the media from getting a chance to interact with those competing at the show.

That’s because the UFC is going to be holding their first ever virtual press conference for UFC 249 for the members of the media and a virtual fighter scrum after the fights take place according to a press release issued by the promotion. Media members who want to take part in this historical scenario will have to register in advance with the UFC. There is no word yet if the UFC will use the virtual tool for other events after UFC 249 or if it is going to be a one off for the promotion and the media.

Fighters expected to take part in the virtual press conference and scrums are Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Henry Cejudo, Dominick Cruz, Francis Ngannou, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Jeremy Stephens, Calvin Kattar, Greg Hardy, Yorgan De Castro, Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis.

UFC 249 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida with Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
