Wanderlei Silva Hit By Car, Suffers Fractured Foot

MMA legend Wanderlei Silva hasn’t competed since suffering a second round TKO loss to Rampage Jackson at Bellator 206

The fighter was in a battle of a different kind earlier this weekend when he was struck by a car while riding a bicycle.

“I could even have died if I wasn’t wearing a helmet,” Silva told Tribuna (via Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting). “People have to be more careful in traffic. It’s hard to ride bikes in Curitiba.”

Silva was transported to the hospital by the person who hit him with their car, but Silva did suffer a fractured foot as a result of the accident.

This is the second time Silva has been hit with a car while riding a bike and the accident made the fighter think a lot about life in general, which is something Silva revealed during an interview with Tribuna after the first accident.

“That made me rethink my life and made me grow a lot,” Silva said. “Live well because it’s over soon. God bless you — and if you’re riding a bike, use a helmet because we never know when we’re going to need it.”

There is no word yet on how long Silva is going to be out of action for, but more should be known as the fractured foot heals up.
