A welterweight division attraction has been added to next month’s UFC On Fox 23 card as Yancy Medeiros will be duking it out with Jingliang Li.
Medeiros (11-4-0) has won three of his last five under the UFC banner, defeating Joe Proctor, John Makdessi and Sean Spencer, while suffering defeats to both Dustin Poirier and Francisco Trinaldo. Medeiros also spent a little time in the Strikeforce promotion, where he defeated the duo of Raul Castillo and Gareth Joseph. Medeiros has only seen two of nine fights in the UFC go to a decision, against John Makdessi and Francisco Trinaldo. Medeiros is also a training partner of Nick and Nate Diaz.
Li (11-4-0) has rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC run, with his wins coming over David Michaud, Dhiego Lima and Anton Zafir, while suffering defeats to Nordine Taleb and Keita Nakamura. Jingliang had a seven fight run in the Legends Fighting Championships promotion, he earned a total of five victories in the promotion.Li will be competing on his first UFC On Fox card. His other UFC fights have come on pay-per-view or fight night cards.
UFC On Fox 23 takes place on Saturday, January 28 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado with Juliana Pena and Valentina Shevchenko headlining.
