Partial Card For NJPW WrestleKingdom 12 Announced

It's arguably one of the biggest pro wrestling shows of the year -- and so far, WrestleKingdom is living up to that reputation with a stacked card.

New Japan has announced a number of matches ahead of the show on January 4, all title matches. In the main event, Kazuchika Okada looks to defend his IWGP Heavyweight title successfully for a ninth time against the winner of the 2017 G1, Tetsuya Naito. Kenny Omega will defend the United States championship against the most unlikely of challengers in Chris Jericho.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, meanwhile, will defend the Intercontinental championship against the returning Jay White, who has been revealed as Switchblade. The Ring of Honor title will also be on the line, as Cody will defend the Ring of Honor championship against Kota Ibushi.

To round things off, both sets of junior titles will be on the line. Roppongi 3K will defend their IWGP Jr. tag team titles against perennial contenders The Young Bucks. Marty Scurll, who won the IWGP Jr. ttle at Power Struggle, will defend the title against Will Ospreay, Hiromu Takahashi and KUSHIDA in a fatal four way match.

New Japan has stated that the card will have up to 9 to 10 bouts -- those will likely be announced closer to the event. The New Japan Rumble is usually a bout that takes place on the show, but it hasn't been confirmed for this year's event.
