Tomasz Narkun Knocks Off Mamed Khalidov In Upset At KSW 42

Mamed Khalidov's insane run atop KSW suffered a hiccup.

In his latest catchweight champion vs. champion bout, 37-year old Mamed Khalidov was defeated at KSW 42 by fellow champion Tomasz Narkun. Khalidov, the Middleweight Champion of the organization, was unbeaten in 20 fights in the company heading into the bout.

Khalidov (34-5-2) controlled the fight until KSW Light Heavyweight Champion Narkun (15-2) locked on a triangle choke in round three on his way to victory. KSW posted a video of the submission, which you can see below.

Despite the gravity of the win, Narkun entered the fight as only a +115 underdog to Khalidov as a -145 favorite -- the closest line on the entire KSW 42 card.

Khalidov is often considered among the greatest MMA fighters to never compete for the UFC, and holds wins over Luke Barnatt, Maiquel Falcao, Melvin Manhoef, Kendall Grove, Jesse Taylor, James Irvin, Matt Lindland, Jorge Santiago and Igor Pokrajac. Narkun himself has wins over UFC veterans in Remeau Thierry Sokoudjou and Goran Reljic.

Khalidov was successful in beating KSW's Welterweight Champion in a company superfight back in May 2017, when he won a unanimous decision over Borys Mankowski.

The bout was contested at a catchweight of 203 pounds, with Khalidov moving up from his normal 185 pounds.
