American Ninja Warrior star Kacy Catanzaro learned a quick lesson in pro wrestling -- often you don't decide if you're a face or a heel.
After signing with WWE, Catanzaro declared publicly that she'd continue being a babyface, much as she appeared during her American Ninja Warrior run.
"I'm not gonna be a bad guy," she said to USA Today last week. "I'm definitely gonna be a babyface (and) keep the same (positive) brand that I am in Ninja, which is honestly who I am in general."
WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Triple H doesn't seem to agree with that assessment. He was quick to say that Catanzaro would be portrayed however WWE needs her portrayed.
"I like to think of myself as a nice guy, (but) I made 90 percent of my career being the worst guy in the business," Triple H said to USA Today. "She might end up being the bad guy that thinks she's better than everybody else, because she was the hero on American Ninja Warrior."
It's not unheard of. Both Mark Henry and Kurt Angle would make it to the Olympics -- seemingly a golden ticket to being a babyface -- but had successful runs as heels.
Kacy, 27, stands 4-11, and is the first and only woman to complete a City Finals course on American Ninja Warrior. Fightful was told WWE has had interest in her since 2015, but she wasn't able to participate in a tryout until this year.
