Adam Copeland Assumes WWE Wouldn’t Let Him Be Part Of John Cena Retirement Tour

During his retirement tour, John Cena wrestled old foes like Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, CM Punk, and Randy Orton, and paid tribute to those he couldn’t wrestle like Adam Copeland (Edge), Bray Wyatt, The Undertaker, and Kurt Angle.
Copeland is still active in wrestling, currently competing for AEW, and fans wondered if he might shock the world and return to WWE for an appearance during Cena’s retirement tour.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on the Ariel Helwani Show, Copeland was asked about Cena’s retirement tour and if he could’ve been part of it.
“Here’s what I realized, [those stories] could run into each other, but one place doesn’t want it to. Okay,” He said.
Asked if Tony Khan would’ve been okay with it, Copeland replied, “Absolutely. I truly believe that. He knows what it meant to a very large segment of wrestling fans.”
Asked if he thought WWE would say no, he replied, “Yeah, I do. I can see it from all sides, I really can. John knew I was there in spirit. Him and I kind of made our bones on each other, and we’re both aware of that fact. Both of our careers would’ve been great, but I think that angle, that story, those two opponents propelled to a different place.”
Finally, Copeland was asked if he explored the idea of making an appearance.
“No. I assumed, and a lot of these are assumptions, but having been there long enough and knowing how the mindset is there, I realized it ain’t going to happen. If it were up to me and John, sure,” he said.
Elsewhere during the interview, Copeland discussed his final run in WWE. You can find his full comments here.
