Athena: I Feel Like I Take Influence From Almost Every Facet Of Wrestling
Athena is influenced by everything.
Throughout the history of the business, most of the best wrestlers have always been open about their influences and the things or people that they are inspired by. Athena was asked to name some of her inspirations in a new interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.
“I feel like it’s always super unfair when people ask me this question because I take inspiration from almost everything. I love my Manami Toyota, Bull Nakano, Aja Kong, but I also love that late Attitude Era reality style wrestling of WWE with like Hurricane, Funaki, Jamie Noble and Nidia. So I have just a weird complex of what I actually like to watch. Not to mention when I first started wrestling I got heavy into the early Ring of Honor stuff, with your Kevin Steens and your El Genericos, your Nigel McGuinnesses and countless others. I actually was fortunate enough to be able to work there in my first set run on the indies. It’s unfair for me to say just like one or two people because I feel like I take influence from almost every facet of wrestling.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Athena named Bianca Belair and Alicia Fox as the strongest people that she’s been in the ring with. Check out her full comments by clicking here.
