Cody Rhodes Recalls Barking At Solo Sikoa When He Tried To Plan Brock Lesnar-Roman Reigns Tag Match
Cody Rhodes tells a hilarious Solo Sikoa story.
On the April 3, 2023 episode of Raw, the stage was set for a tag bout that would’ve pitted Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. The match never happened, as Lesnar attacked Rhodes before the bell.
As it turns out, Solo Sikoa thought that the match was actually going to happen.
“Great story where we did a match with me and Brock Lesnar vs. Roman and Solo. The match was never going to happen. We were going to do a big angle at the end, so there wasn’t going to be a match but Solo was new. He didn’t know the nuance of sometimes maybe the high level of the game where people are not saying things for a reason. There’s producers who don’t even know what we’re about to pull, this may be a limited number of people that need to know. I thought on his side of things, he would’ve been privy. He’s planning to do a full tag match with me and Brock. Brock is a unique animal to approach, he doesn’t even lock up. So, how do you get in there with Brock? What do you do, do you just run up and kick him? Do you run up and let him clothesline you, what do you do? He’s backstage very nervous, which he’s never nervous anymore because he’s really assumed the locker room role now. But, he’s backstage and I walked right by him, I didn’t realize what I did. He goes, ‘Hey, what are we doing out there?’ I turn around and [bark], then I keep going. He, at the beginning of this match that doesn’t happen, is basically getting ready to jump us, not aware of what’s about to happen because he thought that’s the only way you could do it with a guy like this, you jump on him and get what you can and then he’ll take back over. It was a classic case of maybe the bark almost went the other wrong way. He should’ve got the information.” Rhodes recalled during a new interview with Flagrant.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cody was asked about his future as an in-ring performer. Check out his answer by clicking here.
