Darby Allin On Winning AEW World Title In Two Minutes: Not Everything Has To Be A 25 Minute Slugfest
Darby Allin reflects on his AEW World Championship win.
On the April 15 episode of AEW Dynamite, Allin shocked the world by winning the title from MJF. The match only lasted two minutes, marking it as one of the shortest championship matches in company history.
Speaking with Adrian Hernandez for a new interview, Darby said that the match was always scheduled to be a short one.
“Yeah, absolutely. I think to me — and this is to me — so many things in the world of wrestling are more like 15-20 minute things. So, if you catch someone by surprise, everything is just like, woah. Shit, I can’t look away for a second. Think about when Mox beat Punk years ago. I didn’t know that was going to happen, I saw that like woah, this is incredible. Not everything has to be a 25 minute drag out slugfest. If you punch a homie in the balls and give him four coffin drops, I’m pretty sure he’s going to stay down.”
