ESPN Denies Report That They Are Not Planning To Renew WWE Deal When It Expires

ESPN denies a report regarding its relationship with WWE.

On Tuesday, BJ Bethal of SEScoops reported ESPN won’t be renewing its contract with WWE when the deal expires. The two sides reached a five-year agreement that began in September 2025 with the launch of ESPN Unlimited.

The report stated, “the deal faced several problems, including the current media market, “culture and synergy” issues between the two companies and the failure of cable providers to pick up the cost of the app for customers.”

All WWE Premium Live Events are on the platform.

ESPN denied the report, issuing the following statement (via PWInsider):

“There is no truth to the report that we have decided not to renew.”

The deal does not expire until 2030.

Since the start of the deal a year ago, the two brands have seen plenty of crossover with various WWE superstars often appearing on ESPN programming, and the first hour of PLEs airing on ESPN or ESPN2.
