Gabe Kidd Issues Challenge To Yuya Uemura For NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21

Gabe Kidd officially throws out the challenge.
Closing out the 2026 NJPW Power Struggle event was Gabe Kidd defending the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against Taichi.
Kidd went on to defeat Taichi to retain the title, and post-match, Kidd began insulting NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi. He then proceeded to strike Tanahashi in the ring. That led to Yuya Uemura coming out, and there was a brawl that saw Kidd and Jon Moxley fighting with Uemura and Shingo Takagi.
In Kidd’s post-match comments, he officially threw out the challenge to Uemura for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title at Wrestle Kingdom 21 on January 4th, 2027.
Below is the updated lineup for the show:
- Ryohei Oiwa vs. MJF
- IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: YOH (c) vs. SHO (Stipulation: If YOH loses, he must leave NJPW. If SHO loses, he must leave HOUSE OF TORTURE and reunite with YOH to reform Roppongi 3K)
- Shingo Takagi vs. Jon Moxley
- Will Ospreay vs. Callum Newman
- IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship: Gabe Kidd (c) vs. Yuya Uemura
