Gangrel Believes It Was Triple H, Not Vince McMahon, Who Kiboshed WrestleMania 39 Appearance

Edge paid tribute to The Brood at WrestleMania 39 for his match against Finn Balor, only Gangrel and Christian were not there.

Christian had signed with AEW by that point, but Gangrel was available if the phone call was made.

“I’m not sure, but I think maybe it might have been Hunter,” Gangrel told Chris Van Vliet on Insight when speaking on why he didn’t appear at WrestleMania 39. “Some people said Vince, but I think it might have been Hunter. Somebody kiboshed it. So when that didn’t go down, he left the next year to AEW. Then he wanted to make sure that he’s a guy that wants to have his way. Don’t tell him no on something, he’s gonna figure it out. So in AEW, he had me come back and come up to the ring and stuff like that.”

Asked if he was close to being part of the event, he replied, “In Edge’s mind? Yes. He was trying hard, but in their minds, no, I don’t think so.”

Gangrel and Edge would reunite at AEW Double or Nothing 2024.

All three members of the Brood are still active in wrestling, with Gangrel training and working independent matches while Adam Copeland & Christian Cage are the reigning AEW Tag Team Champions.
