Judge Rules AEW Can’t Fully Seal Contracts In Ryan Nemeth Arbitration

A ruling has been made on All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and its motion to seal the three contracts of Ryan Nemeth in their ongoing arbitration case.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics opposed the motion, arguing the contracts shouldn’t be fully sealed.

On Tuesday, Judge Patricia Barksdale ruled AEW can refile redacted versions along with a new motion to seal. AEW can’t fully seal the contracts, as the company had requested. Thurston can file another motion if he believes the redacted versions black out too much information.

AEW has the option of withdrawing the contracts as exhibits, but that would mean the judge can’t consider them as part of AEW’s effort to force the dispute with Nemeth to be handled in arbitration in Florida.

On June 5, AEW filed a petition in the U.S. District Court in the Middle District of Florida to compel Nemeth to arbitrate the dispute at a JAMS administrative office nearest to Duval County, Florida, and be adjudicated under Florida law.

Nemeth filed a lawsuit in February 2025 against Tony Khan, AEW, and CM Punk alleging assault, breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and intentional interference with prospective advantage. Fans can read parts of the lawsuit here.
