Kyle Fletcher Felt Guilty For Singles Run Coming About After Mark Davis’ Injury

Kyle Fletcher further expresses how happy he is for Mark Davis.

The duo, once known as Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis), have gone on to find singles success in All Elite Wrestling.

Both are part of the Don Callis Family, and Fletcher is the AEW International Champion and Davis is a former AEW National Champion.

Fletcher spoke about their solo successes while appearing on the Battleground Podcast. He stated that he initially felt guilty about his singles run because it came after Davis got injured.

“Oh, absolutely. I think that there was honestly a lot of guilt on my behalf. At that point, he’s not just a tag partner. We’d been teaming together for five years-plus. We’d been best friends for majority of that time so, yeah, there’s a lot of guilt and there are a lot of conversations of people telling me, you know, ‘You need to be a singles wrestler. You’ve gotten so over and you’re doing so good. It doesn’t make sense for you to be in a tag team right now’ and then in the back of my brain, I’m just like, f*ck man. But then where does that leave Davis? Then, a lot of these guilty feelings so, yes, I was stoked to be getting these opportunities but I didn’t want my best friend to be left by the wayside because of it, which is just — it makes me so happy to see what he’s doing now and how much he’s flourished. He saw something in me. He saw something in me. I have known he’s an incredible professional wrestler for as long as I’ve been wrestling. For as long as I’ve known him, I’ve known he’s been incredible so I knew it was only a matter of time. Like I said, wrestling is just about timing and opportunities and then, lo and behold, Jake Doyle got hurt when they kind of started teaming together and then Davis had this very similar singles ascent, singles resurgence. He won the National Title, and he hasn’t looked back since and it makes me, again, just incredibly grateful that I get to still kind of be a part of it and see his success.”

Fletcher will be defending his International Title at All In against Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita in a Triple Threat.
