Matt Cardona shares that he trademarked ‘Matt Cardona’ when he found out WWE may bring him back to make sure he was protected.
Cardona returned to WWE full time at the beginning of this year, now working in the company under his ring name after previously working under the Zack Ryder name with the company. Now, he has explained why he decided to trademark his name.
While speaking to NotSam Wrestling in an interview over SummerSlam weekend, Matt Cardona explained how he trademarked his real name the moment he heard WWE may bring him back under the name as he wanted to protect himself.
“Yeah, when I heard I might be brought back as Matt Cardona, you know what I did? I trademarked Matt Cardona. Even though it’s my real name, I just wanted to make sure I was fully protected. You’ve always got to be protected.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Cardona recalled a conversation with his wife Chelsea Green where she had forgotten that he has never captured the WWE Championship in his pro wrestling career. You can read more about that here.
