Maya World Calls AEW Forbidden Door Owen Hart Cup Final With Mercedes Mone A Mission For Her Late Brother
Maya World says she’s on a mission to win against Mercedes Mone for her brother.
At AEW Forbidden Door 2026, Maya World will step into the ring against Mercedes Mone in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup finals.
Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm recently, Maya opened up about what this match means to her.
“It means everything to me. Of course, cause she’s someone who I’ve got to get a lot of inspiration from. It hasn’t fully settled in for me what I’m doing. I just know that I’m going in and I have this mission in mind to win for my brother. I’m just very excited see what’s going to happen on Sunday.”
Maya World’s brother recently passed away in a tragic accident. She was asked how she’s wrestling with her emotions, walking into one of the biggest matches of her career.
“Yeah mentally it’s been really tough, but it’s just something that I know a lot of people are looking to me and seeing how I’m getting by. I’m just trying to be strong for myself, for my family and for my brother because I’m doing it for him. A lot of it hasn’t settled in for me, which is why it’s a little bit easy. I’ve been feeling a lot of numbness, so it kind of feels like I’m on a mission and it’s full steam ahead honestly. I’m just using that momentum that’s in my heart and my brain to get through these matches. I beat my mentor and now I’m going on to face my idol.”
