Nic Nemeth Says Vince McMahon Told Him He Was Only Holding WWE World Heavyweight Title For A Few Weeks So Alberto Del Rio Could Get Heated Up Again

Nic Nemeth compares the differences between being a World Champion in TNA vs. WWE.
At TNA Bound for Glory, Nic Nemeth will step into the ring with Leon Slater, who’s challenging him for the TNA World Championship. Slater invoked Option C to have this match.
During a conversation with TVInsider, Nemeth was asked how being a TNA World Champion compares to his other World Championship reigns.
“It’s pretty damn cool. Anytime you’re any kind of champion or representative or even ambassador to the company, it’s being able to talk to different media outlets and do PR work. So that’s fantastic. Comparing it to other companies, if you want to compare world championships in TNA to those in WWE, that’s easy.”
Nemeth said that when he became the World Heavyweight Champion for the second time in WWE, he told Vince McMahon that he looked forward to being the champion. But McMahon didn’t have any long-term plans for him and told Nemeth that he would only keep the belt for a few weeks.
“I became champion by cashing in a contract on a very injured man who still almost beat me. Then when I came to the back I told Vince [McMahon] that I looked forward to being his champion. He said, ‘Yeah you’re just holding the title for a few weeks so I can get [Alberto] Del Rio heated up again.’ I went, ‘Okay, I guess I have a few weeks to try and change your mind.’ He went, ‘Yeah okay,’ and shrugged. That meant that there’s absolutely no one behind me, and there’s no long-term story. That’s fine. That’s life. That’s pro wrestling. That’s Hollywood.”
He then talked about his TNA World Title reign, and how the company treats him.
“In TNA, they say, ‘We love your work. We love the way you talk. We love the media that you do. We love the reputation that you have to steal the show in every single main event of every pay-per-view that we have, so we are behind you. We want you to be the best here, and we feel that you’re the best representative to be world champion. I went, ‘Yeah, that makes sense.’”
Nemeth had two world title reigns in WWE. The first one lasted for a week, and the second one lasted for 30 days before Alberto Del Rio recaptured the belt.
