Shinya Aoki Signs With DDT Pro-Wrestling

Shinya Aoki puts pen to paper with DDT.
DDT Pro-Wrestling announced the signing of Shinya Aoki. He has competed for the promotion as a freelancer since 2018. After his match on October 18th, 2026, his signing was announced. Aoki returned to the ring wearing a DDT shirt. His first match under contract will be on November 3rd at DDT Ultimate Party against Zack Sabre Jr.
Aoki gave an interview to Tokyo Sports and explained why he officially joined DDT. He shared that former DDT President Sanshiro Takagi and three-time KO-D Openweight Champion Yuki Ueno reached out to him after his MMA loss at a Super Rizin event in September. Aoki lost via knockout.
“It’s because Sanshiro Takagi and Yuki Ueno reached out to me when I was at a loss after my match against Mikuru Asakura in September. Far from just getting too caught up in DDT, I’ve finally joined the promotion. How about that, guys? Jealous, aren’t you!?”
Ueno was Aoki’s cornerman for the MMA fight.
Aoki added that he will continue doing independent shows. He has a 49-13-1 record in MMA. His last two fights have been losses via TKO and knockout. He is a two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion.
In DDT, Aoki’s accolades are listed as follows:
- DDT Extreme Championship (three times)
- Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship (three times)
- KO-D Openweight Championship
- KO-D Tag Team Championship (1 time)
- KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship
- KO-D 8-Man/10-Man Tag Team Championship (two times)
