Tony Schiavone talks about some of the biggest differences between working with WCW and working with AEW.
Schiavone has been a staple of professional wrestling since the Monday Night Wars, where he would work as an announcer on WCW programming, later serving the same role in All Elite Wrestling following the beginning of the promotion in 2019.
While speaking to 3NT Wrestling in a new interview, Tony Schiavone was asked about the biggest differences between working with WCW and AEW.
“Well, what feels similar is that it’s an alternative to the WWE. What feels different about the two as far as I’m concerned is that, and I brought this up on an interview earlier, is that at WCW, the wrestlers were my age. At AEW, they’re the age of my kids. That’s the biggest difference. So there’s a different dynamic that I have now with these guys and girls. It is more guys than I’ve ever experienced as far as, I don’t know, we’ve got to promote a lot of stuff. We’ve got to promote venues, T-shirts. I’ve got notes that I’ve never had before on each wrestler. It’s just more involved of a TV show than I’ve ever been involved with in my life. So that’s a different dynamic.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Tony spoke about rejecting a pitch for Tank Abbott to punch him in the midsection. You can read more about that here.
