Adam Cole Knows Fans Will Compare NXT To AEW, Believes NXT Roster Will Thrive Under Pressure

Adam Cole discusses the upcoming Wednesday Night War.

As the NXT Champion and one of the faces of the brand, Adam Cole is also someone who other people look to in the locker room. With NXT going head-to-head with AEW beginning on Oct. 2, Cole has full confidence in his locker room stepping up when NXT goes live on USA.

"One of the coolest things to me is to see the growth of the brand as time has passed. Even when I got [to NXT] from two years ago to now, obviously with this jump to USA Network, month-by-month there have been little things where the brand has continued to grow. I'm incredibly proud of our team," Cole told Busted Open Radio. "I stand by the fact that I really do think, bell to bell, NXT puts on the best shows on the planet. I stand by that. To now get the chance to do that on such a huge stage, weekly on USA Network, it's exciting. I think about how it's gonna put our team in a high-pressure situation, but in a good way. I think a lot of us do our best work when we're in a high-pressure situation. I know there's a reason we got to this point and working live television every week is much different than what we've been doing but I stand by the fact that I think NXT is gonna knock it out of the park."

When asked about comparisons between NXT and AEW, Cole put the focus on the fans, believing this will be a great time for them.

"Of course there are going to be comparisons. Obviously, we're going live at the exact same time with the new Wednesday Night Wars," said Cole. "But NXT did get to the USA Network based on the work within NXT. I've been hearing for weeks that NXT is a legitimate third brand. Now we have a chance to prove that. It creates an exciting situation for wrestling fans. There's so many different options for people to watch and enjoy. For a fan and as a wrestler, there's never been a more exciting time. Of course, I think there's going to be comparisons. To me, it's amazing that that's happening again. I'm excited for it."

Before Cole gets to NXT live on USA on Sept. 18 with the NXT Title, he must first get by Breakout Tournament winner Jordan Myles on Wednesday's episode of NXT.
