AEW Doesn't Run A 'Sloppy Shop,' Reportedly Cleared Jon Moxley For Fyter Fest

The AEW World Title match between Jon Moxley and Brian Cage was scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 8. The bout was to be taped on Thursday, July 2.

However, it was announced during night one of Fyter Fest that the bout would be pushed back to July 15, which is now Fight for the Fallen on TNT.

Jesse Ventura Says He Is 'In Talks' With WWE

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, AEW cleared Jon Moxley to compete at night two of Fyter Fest following a negative COVID-19 test, but Moxley made the decision to remain at home. Moxley's wife Renee Young tested positive for COVID-19 and though Moxley has taken multiple tests that have come up negative, he reportedly didn't want to risk infecting anyone in AEW.

During night one of Fyter Fest, Taz cut a promo on Moxley, where he commented on AEW's handling of COVID-19 while taking a shot at how WWE has handled things.

"I had a healthy conversation with Tony Khan, and I learned that you're concerned with the health and well-being of all the athletes and crew in AEW. I found that kind of weird. Correct me if I’m wrong, Mox, but as you’re at home, you’ve been tested at home, not once, but twice, and you’ve been negative on both. If you decided to get your ass here to work next week, you would get tested again here in AEW, because Jon as you know, we don’t run a sloppy shop," said Taz.

The "sloppy shop" comment is a swipe at WWE, who just started testing performers following a second positive test on June 15. Following a round of testing, multiple WWE performers tested positive for COVID-19, including Renee.

That wasn't the only mention of WWE on Wednesday's Dynamite as MJF dropped a "ratings war" comment during his promo, touching on the Wednesday night battle between AEW and NXT.
