AEW Dynamite 8/22 Dynamite Viewership, Ratings Down For Special Saturday Airing

Despite no competition from NXT on television, this week's AEW Dynamite saw its viewership go down.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the August 22 episode of Dynamite averaged 755,000 viewers, down from the 792,000 viewers the August 12 episode (which was the last time Dynamite aired) drew. This is the lowest viewership since night 2 of Fyter Fest on July 8, which averaged 715,000 viewers.

The August 22 episode also drew a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is fifth-best on cable for the day and is only slightly down from the August 12 episode (0.32). In the 18-34 demo, Dynamite drew a 0.21 rating and in the 50+ demo, the show drew a 0.25 rating.

Dynamite aired on a Saturday this past week instead of its usual Wednesday spot due to NBA on TNT coverage. A similar thing will happen this week as Dynamite will take place on Thursday, August 27. It should be noted that part of Dynamite had no direct NXT TV competition but NXT TakeOver XXX aired in the second half of Dynamite.

The August 22 episode opened with a tag team match between FTR and Private Party. In addition, Chris Jericho crashed Orange Cassidy's first in-ring interview with AEW and challenged him to a Mimosa Mayhem Match at All Out, plus Ivelisse and Diamante won the AEW Women's Tag Team Tournament. In the main event, Brodie Lee defeated Cody to become the new TNT Champion.
