AEW Dynamite Results For 9/22/21 Grand Slam Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega at Arthur Ashe Stadium

- AEW Commentator Jim Ross welcomes the viewer to AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. They are coming to us live from Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. Ross then welcomes his colleagues Excalibur and Tony Schiavone to the telecast. All three men begin going over tonight's card.

"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega (w/ Don Callis)

Bryan Danielson is out; first, Kenny Omega is out second, and the raucous crowd is ecstatic. AEW Referee Paul Turner calls for the bell, and the crowd begins going is going crazy and start chanting. Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega get into each other's faces. The crowd starts chanting, "American Dragon is going to f**k you up." We start with a collar and elbow tie-up. Omega sends Danielson to the ropes and hits him with a chop.

They tie up again, and Danielson hits Omega with a powerful middle kick instead of returning with a chop. Danielson brings Omega to the mat. Danielson takes a shot at Omega's abdomen, and Omega gets out of the ring. Omega is back in the ring and hits Danielson with a shoulder tackle. Omega hits Danielson with a hard chop as he avoids Danielson's who was going for a monkey flip.

They test each other's strength; Danielson takes Omega down and then stomps on the arm of Omega. Danielson takes Omega to the corner and begins hitting Omega with multiple chops and kicks. Omega counters and does the same; Danielson counters and does the same again. Danielson sends Omega out of the ring and then hits Omega with a tope suicida. Danielson has Omega back in the ring; Danielson goes to the top rope and comes down and nails Omega with a knee.

Danielson begins working on Omega's arm; Omega stops it and does an eye rake to Danielson. Omega hits Danielson with multiple chops and then sends Danielson to the corner and begins stomping on Omega. Danielson's chest is beat red, Danielson starts getting pumped up, and he hits Omega with a big chop. Omega takes Danielson down again and begins kicking the back of Danielson.

The American Dragon is trying to make a comeback as he hits Omega with an uppercut. Omega hits Danielson with a thumb to the eye. Omega goes for a middle turnbuckle flip, and Danielson gets the knees up. Danielson now gets some bigs kicks in on Omega. Danielson has Omega up on the turnbuckle, and he hits Omega with a hurricanrana. Danielson goes for the pin; Omega kicks out at two.

Omega's back up, and he hits Danielson with a hurricanrana. Danielson goes to the outside; Omega then dives over the top rope and hits Danielson. Omega and Danielson and reverse holds and pins, and Danielson has Omega in the count of mutilation locked in; however, Omega makes it to the ropes. Omega goes to the turnbuckle and lands a knee on the outside. Danielson goes for a big knee, but Omega counters and hits Danielson with a snap-dragon suplex. Omega walks about 50 feet away, runs down the ramp, and hits Danielson with a massive V-Trigger.

AEW heads out for their first picture-in-picture commercial break of the evening. The referee begins the count as Danielson is on the outside. Omega stops the count by going after Danielson. Omega throws Danielson onto the top of the table, but it does not break. Danielson is back in the ring, and Omega is just toying around with him. Omega lifts Danielson and hits him with a buckle bomb; Omega goes to the top turnbuckle and hits the missile dropkick and hits it. Omega goes for the pin, Danielson kicks out at two. Omega goes for the snap-dragon suplex; however, Danielson stops it, and Omega hits him with a heel kick.

Omega has Danielson up top; Danielson goes between Omega's leg and escapes Omega. Danielson hits Omega with an Avalanche Backdrop. Danielson and Omega are back up and exchange strikes; Omega goes for the V-Trigger, and Danielson hits him with a big strike. Danielson goes for the pin, and Omega kicks out at the last second. Omega has Danielson on top turnbuckle again and begins hitting Danielson in the back of the head with headbutts. Omega hits Danielson with the Avalanche, Danielson kicks out. Omega hits Danielson with the V-Trigger, he goes for the One-Winged Angel, and Danielson counters it into the hurricanrana.

Omega hits Danielson with another V-Trigger and goes for the pin, and Danielson kicks out at two. Omega goes for the Phoenix splash, but Danielson moves out of the way. Danielson now hits Omega with multiple kicks, and Omega comes back with elbow strikes. Omega hits the ground, and Danielson hits Omega again. Danielson goes for the LaBell Lock, and Omega makes it to the ropes. Omega hits Danielson with the V-Trigger. Danielson and Omega begin exchanging strikes, and the match ends because of the thirty-minute time limit. Danielson has the LaBell Lock on, and The Young Bucks and Adam Cole come out and save Omega. Cole and The Young Bucks hit Danielson with a Superkick Party. Christian Cage and Jurassic Express rescue Danielson, now Omega, Callis, Young Bucks, and Cole retreat.

No Winner: Thirty-Minute Time Limit Draw

- CM Punk comes out and takes in the crowd. Then as expected, he yells out his catchphrase, "It's Clobberin time." Next, CM Punk says he is glad he is not wrestling on Dynamite. Then, the crowd begins chanting "CM Punk." Punk says it's been a long time since New York City, and it's been a long time since Pro Wrestling has been in New York City.

Punk talks about how "people want him to be mad, he says be careful about what you wish for." Punk says he is happy to be here, and he believes Team Taz is jealous of him and doesn't want to see joy. Punk says it's been so long since he's needed this (Pro Wrestling). Instead, CM Punk says, "nobody will take this away from him."

Punk tells Team Taz "that they should have finished the job." CM Punk ends the promo saying on Rampage, "Powerhouse Hobbs goes to sleep." CM Punk leaves the ring, hugs Heelz actor Stephen Amell, and we go to a commercial break.

MJF (w/ Wardlow) vs. Brian Pillman Jr. (w/ Julia Hart)

The bell rings, and MJF puts his hand out to shake Pillman's hand. Pillman has the upper hand to start the match. Now, Pillman hits MJF with multiple knife-edge chops. MJF goes for the back body drop, and MJF is ready for it. MJF slaps Pillman hard, and Pillman returns the favor. MJF throws Pillman into the corner turnbuckle hard and then goes to the turnbuckle and poses for the crowd. Pillman goes for a pin attempt as he takes MJF down; MJF kicks out at two. We go to another picture-in-picture commercial break with MJF in complete control.

We return from the commercial break, and MJF throws into the corner and begins yelling at the crowd. Pillman Jr. grabs MJF and throws into the corner, and gets a few strikes in on MJF. Pillman Jr. hits MJF with a big thrust kick into the midsection. Pillman Jr. is about to go for the tope suicida, and MJF pulls Julia Hart in front of him. Julia Hart is upset and gets into the face of MJF, and Pillman then kicks MJF in the face. They get back into the ring; however, MJF counters Pillman's attack into submission, and Pillman taps.

Winner: MJF (w/ Wardlow)

- Alex Marvez is backstage to interview Chris Jericho and Jake Hager and tell Dan Lambert that they are "ready for Dan Lambert and his meatheads."

Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes (w/ Arn Anderson and Brandi Rhodes)

Malakai Black makes his entrance, and Cody Rhodes is out shortly after and takes a somewhat longer entrance. Arn Anderson and Brandi Rhodes join Cody, and they walk down to ringside. The bell rings, and the crowd is pumped; the majority of the fans root for Black. Rhodes is getting a chorus of loud boo's. The bell rings, and both men begin countering each other. Rhodes gets a few strikes in and Black counters. Rhodes escapes the ring; Black then sits in the middle of the ring. Brandi Rhodes gets into the ring and sits in front of Black, and flips him the bird.

Rhodes comes back in the ring and gets a few shots in on Black. Black goes outside the ring, Rhodes goes to the top rope, and as Rhodes jumps toward Black, Black counters with a knee. We return, and Black hits Rhodes with a huge kick, and Rhodes goes outside of the rope. Malakai Black gets out of the ring immediately and has Rhodes in a headlock. Black, let's go and get back into the ring. Rhodes begins attacking the knee of Malakai Black. Rhodes uses the ropes and hits Black with the dragon screw; Rhodes sends Black to the turnbuckle, both men exchange heavy kicks. Cody is going for the Cross Rhodes and Black counters by lifting Rhodes and tossing him about five feet. Rhodes hits Black with a Cody Cutter. Rhodes goes for the pin, and Black kicks out; Arn Anderson is upset and standing on the canvas.

Anderson then falls, and Cody focuses on Anderson. Rhodes goes back after Black; Rhodes attempts to send Black into the ropes, however Black counters and sends Rhodes into the ropes and collides into Arn Anderson. Rhodes checks in on Anderson gets mad, and tells Rhodes to get back into the ring. Rhodes goes after Black and landing a series of punches. The referee Paul Turner tries to stop Cody, and Cody hits him in what appeared to be an "accident." Black then spits the black mist into the eyes of Rhodes and then takes Rhodes down and pins Rhodes for the win.

Winner: Malakai Black

- We get a promo for next week's Dynamite. Sammy Guevara will take on Miro for the TNT Championship.

FTR (w/ Tully Blanchard) vs. Darby Allin & Sting

Cash Wheeler and Darby Allin begin exchanging strikes, Allin gets in a few shots, and then the crowd chants for Sting. Sting then hits both members of FTR with a flurry of strikes. Sting goes for Stinger Splash, but he misses. FTR then uses that as an advantage and double-team Sting; Sting comes back with a few strikes. Sting takes down Dax and then falls on top of Harwood; Sting gets up and gets to Darby Allin for the hot tag. Allin is in the ring, and he takes both Harwood and Cash to the outside, Darby goes for the Coffin Drop on the outside, but FTR catches him and slams him hard.

We go to a picture-in-picture commercial break with FTR in control; we return, and Darby is trying to avoid the double-team again and, for the most part, avoids it. FTR grabs onto Darby as he tags Sting; now, Darby backs away and dives between Harwood and Wheeler to tag Sting. Sting hits Cash with a nice spinebuster, and Sting gets sent to the corner, and Dax takes control. Dax goes for the Tombstone Piledriver; however, Sting counters it and goes for the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting has the Scorpion Death Lock on Harwood; Wheeler tries to pull Harwood to the ropes. Allin hits the Coffin Drop on Wheeler; Harwood then taps out.

Winners: Darby Allin & Sting

- We are shown highlights from Dr. Britt Baker and Ruby Soho's promo from last week's AEW Rampage.

AEW Women's Championship Match
Ruby Soho vs. Dr. Britt Baker (w/ Rebel and Jamie Hayter)

Ruby Soho and Dr. Britt Baker tie-up, one-half of the crowd chants for Soho, and the other half root for Baker. Baker and Soho are exchanging holds, and neither one gets the upper hand until Soho hits Baker with a big knee. Baker leaves the ring and gets checked on by Jamie Hayter and Rebel on the outside.

Ruby Soho goes to the top rope and dives onto Hayter and Rebel as Baker moves out of the way. Baker then hits Soho with a nice superkick. Next, Baker lifted Soho, put her on the apron, and hit Soho with a swinging neckbreaker. We go to the last picture-in-picture commercial break of the evening with Baker in control.

We return from the break, and Ruby Soho sends Baker face-first into the turnbuckle. Soho and Baker exchange thrust kicks. Ruby and Britt are now exchanging multiple punches; Soho hits Baker with two headbutts. Now, Baker will go for the Lockjaw; however, Soho knows it is coming and gets out of it. Baker takes a shot at Soho and takes her down to the canvas. Baker then gets her glove from Rebel, Soho goes for the Lockjaw again, and Soho is ready for it again. Now, Soho catapults Baker into the turnbuckle face-first. Baker hits Soho with a nice neckbreaker, then hits Soho with a thrust kick.

Baker goes for the pin, Soho kicks out at two. Baker goes to the top rope; Ruby then knocks Baker off of it. Ruby appears to be going for a suplex, Baker counters it into the Avalanche Air Raid. Baker goes for the pin, and Soho kicks out. Baker hits Soho with the Curb Stomp; Baker goes for the pin, and Soho kicks out. Soho takes Baker down; Rebel then distracts the referee; however, Soho kicks Rebel and knocks her off the apron. Hayter then uses the ropes and hits Soho, and this knocks Soho down, and Baker capitalizes by putting the Lockjaw on Soho. Soho has no choice but to tap out; Baker retains her title.

Winner: Dr. Britt Baker
