AJ Styles Talks About Playing Video Games Backstage, Prefers It Over Going Out Drinking

AJ Styles loves video games, and considering WWE's current backstage environment, he feels like he's at home.

He spoke to the Orlando Sentinel about his love for video games. He notes that with Xavier Wood's Up Up Down Down Youtube channel, it's quite often can go backstage and see someone playing video games to pass the time before a WWE event.

"These are a group of guys and girls I really enjoy going to work with” Styles said. “You walk in and you’ve got [the New Day’s] Xavier Woods and his video games – that’s right up my alley. So a bunch of us start playing UFC or Madden, and that’s fun. Because you know, idle hands are the devil’s workshop."

At the same time, it also illustrates WWE's current locker room atmosphere. While the norm even a decade ago was to go out drinking and engage in other forms of debauchery after a show, these days it's more about hanging out and playing video games, which is right up Styles' alley.

“I mean no disrespect to the guys who did it a different way at the bars or whatever,” Styles said. “The truth now is, when we get to a city, we find a good gym, something good to eat, go to the building and play video games until it’s time for our matches. That sounds like a great day to me.”
