Alberto Del Rio Explains Why He Didn't Sign With TNA

Just a year ago, Alberto Del Rio was one of the hottest free agents in wrestling. Now, he hopes he remains with the WWE for the rest of his career.

After Del Rio's controversial WWE release in 2014, the Mexican star became a huge babyface in his home country of Mexico. This led to a run as a top star in AAA and Lucha Underground, as well as a few appearances for Ring of Honor. Despite getting offers from TNA Wrestling, Alberto Del Rio told Indian Express that he never really considered joining.

"At the end of the day you can love what you do, but you have to be rewarded. If somebody wants to have me in their organisation, they have to pay me, and there is no other place like WWE, which is a major league of progress and growth. TNA does not have the wherewithal as WWE does,” Del Rio said.

Del Rio spoke about his well-traveled time away from WWE, but certainly seemed like he knew he was destined to come back to the company.

“I had the opportunity to work for all the prestigious wrestling companies around the world in different countries, but there is no other place like WWE. I like the way they treat us and the places we go. You become a global superstar,” he said.

Alberto Del Rio most recently competed on this week's episode of Raw, coming up short in the Intercontinental Title contender battle royal.
