A grudge match has been added to NXT TakeOver: WarGames II.
On Aug. 8, Aleister Black was found laid out in the parking lot following NXT going off the air. Black was originally scheduled to face Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa in a triple threat bout at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. The "who attacked Aleister Black" storyline dominated NXT television throughout the late summer and early fall with General Manager William Regal conducting a full investigation.
Black returned to television on Oct. 17. A week later, it was revealed that Johnny Gargano had been the one behind the attack on Black.
Gargano had been on a downward spiral following his loss to Ciampa in a Last Man Standing bout TakeOver: Brooklyn IV. He lost to Velveteen Dream on a subsequent episode of NXT and was being called "Johnny Loser" by the NXT faithful. When Nikki Cross revealed that Gargano was the one who attacked Black, fans found out that Gargano's descent into madness began before he was put down by Ciampa in Brooklyn.
NXT TakeOver: WarGames II takes place on Saturday, Nov. 17. Fightful will provide live coverage of the event and a post-show podcast.
