On the October 21 episode of AEW Dynamite, Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) competed in a fatal four-way bout to crown AEW Tag Team Title number one contenders.
During the bout, Reynolds was seemingly knocked out after taking a top rope leg drop-splash combination move from Private Party. Reynolds' body went stiff after the spot and he laid there as the pinfall was broken up. He was then dragged to the corner by The Blade, who tagged himself in. Reynolds continued to lay motionless in the corner as the action continued around him before he was finally able to make it to his feet to continue the match.
Reynolds was said to be okay after the bout and told fans that AEW handled everything in a proper fashion.
Appearing on AEW Unrestricted, Reynolds offered more insight into what happened on that night.
"I was lying in the middle of the ring, waiting for Private Party to hit the splash/leg drop combo and I got kinda rocked. It is what it is, but what many people online don't know -- obviously, because they weren't in the situation -- I wasn't knocked out. I was awake the whole time and remember everything. I knew where I was, knew where we were in the match. I did a self-check with myself. The big thing everyone was complaining about was me being dragged to the corner. That was all planned. What people aren't understanding is that I just took a double team move off the top rope and Blade just dragged me to the corner so he could be legal and win the match. People were complaining, but I was just laying there and selling this move, but I was also rocked and making sure I was okay. I've been wrestling long enough to know I was pretty sure I could continue. John looked at me like, 'Are you okay?' 'Yeah, I'm okay.' Once I was on the ground, I was like, 'Okay, I can do this.' Once I stood up, I was like, 'Oh no. I can't.' It's chaotic. The worst part of it was the feedback on social media. Once the doctors and everyone knew I was hurt, I was done. People sit back and watch it with the knowledge that I was already hurt. So they're like, 'They handled it wrong.' No, they handled it perfectly. I'm okay, cleared, and ready to go," he said.
Reynolds returned to action on the November 24 episode of AEW Dark and has competed in multiple matches since the incident.
He is set to compete on next Wednesday's AEW Dynamite when he teams with Silver and Hangman Page against Matt Hardy and Private Party.
