Ali Believes It Was Destiny That Put Kofi Kingston In WWE Title Match At WrestleMania 35

Ali is no longer asking "what if?"

In a new candid interview with WWE, Ali reflected on the events that put Kofi Kingston in the WWE Title match at WrestleMania 35. Ali was originally scheduled to partake in the SmackDown Live gauntlet match prior to WWE Elimination Chamber and then compete in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Title. However, an injury forced him to the sideline and put Kingston in his spot. The fan support Kofi received in both bouts were too much for WWE to ignore, leading Kofi to the top spot on SmackDown Live.

As for Ali, he returned at WWE Fastlane, but has yet to recapture the momentum he had prior to his injury.

"I've been battling this "what if?" question. "What if I didn't get hurt? What if it was me that got to compete in the gauntlet and got that championship opportunity at Elimination Chamber. Even though I'm back...I have all the love and respect for Kofi but that question of "what if?" Is almost haunting me," said Ali.

The clip then cuts to a backstage meeting between Ali and Kofi, where Ali admits that he's let go of "what if?"

"I know it's not "what if?" It was what is meant to be. It's destiny. It's not an accident. I see one of the good guys -- the best guy -- at the top right now."

Kofi was appreciative of Ali's comments, saying that he's doing this for Ali as well because he knows what it's like to lose his spot at the last minute.

Ali is scheduled to compete in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35.
