Andre Chase Says There Was A Pitch For Chase U To Win NXT Tag Titles At NXT Vengeance Day 2023
At NXT Vengeance Day 2023, New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) defended the NXT Tag Team Titles against Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang), Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson), and Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince).
Gallus were victorious in the match, but that may not have been the original plan.
“I can only tell you what I heard and what I was there for. I was told there was a pitch made that we were going to win the titles. Corino was the producer for that match. I was in the locker room when New Day came in. I remember Steve going, ‘You guys are good to drop the titles tonight?’ They were like, ‘Yeah, we don’t mind dropping to Chase and Duke.’ They were like, ‘Oh, it’s actually Gallus.’ This was news to me, at this point. I wish I wouldn’t have heard it,” Chase recalled while speaking to Duke Hudson on Between Two Jobs.
Chase U would eventually win the tag team titles three months later at NXT Halloween Havoc.
