The Ascension Reveals New Tag Team Name, Which Name They Nearly Used

The Ascension will be undergoing a new name moving forward.

The duo, consisting of Big Kon (formerly known as Konnor in WWE) and Vik (Viktor in WWE), spoke to Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone and spoke about different names they thought about using. At first, they mentioned that they were originally going to be collectively known as FKA.

"We were going to use ‘FKA’ for the time being just because we liked that. We knew everybody just knew us as The Ascension for the longest time, and to jump off [of that], we couldn’t really figure it out for a while. We’d been talking back and forth so much, going through all of these other ideas and it kinda got presented to us the other week via interview," Vik said.

That's when Big Kon would go on to reveal that the two of them will be named The Awakening.

“The Awakening. It’s like it’s the next step up from The Ascension,” Big Kon added. “It’s still got that connection so the fans can understand it and it’s something that Vik and I think is badass regardless.”

The two of them were released by WWE back in December 2019 after wrestling for the company for the better part of the 2010s where they were also NXT Tag Team Champions. The full interview can be read at this link.
