Battleground Championship Wrestling Backs Off Claim WWE Intentionally Pulled D-Von Dudley From Show

Battleground Championship Wrestling held its Tribute To The Extreme event on December 17 at the 2300 Arena, paying tribute to Extreme Championship Wrestling. Bully Ray (Bubba Ray Dudley) was in action, taking on Matt Cardona. D-Von Dudley was advertised as being in the corner of Bully's, but was noticeably absent.

On December 19, BCW claimed WWE pulled D-Von from the event. The company BCW claimed WWE sent them a legal letter upset over the show and BCW playing off the ECW intellectual property, which is owned by WWE. BCW also claims that D-Von personally reached out to Triple H to get the decision reversed, but was unsuccessful.

BCW's Tim Embler took to Facebook and backed off the claims that WWE pulled D-Von from the show:

Hey guys. I have a follow up statement to the situation with the WWE that I addressed in the ring this past Saturday. After having several conversations today I now know that everything that went down with D-Von was a misunderstanding. The wwe did not intentionally pull Dvon to hurt our show. I won't get into those details but if I had the information then that I have now I wouldn't have made the comments I made. It felt as if we were under attack and I reacted in the defense of our company. I can't thank everyone enough for the support you showed and the future for The Battleground is limitless! Have an amazing rest of the holiday season and just remember... this March... A Champion Shall Rise!

BCW plans to make Tribute To The Extreme an annual event.
