The Beast Mortos Wins 1st CMLL Match Since 2011, Steals Esfinge's Mask on 7/4 Viernes Espectacular

The Beast Mortos makes a big impression in his return to CMLL.

CMLL hosted a new episode of "Viernes Espectacular" live from Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. The show was headlined by The Beast Mortos teaming alongside Averno and Último Guerrero against the team of Esfinge, Máscara Dorada & Templario in a 2/3 fall match on the main event of the show.

Christopher Daniels Reveals Eye Injury Was Never Real

Mortos ended up looking in top form, picking up the two deciding falls to lead his team to victory despite the differences between Averno and Último Guerrero, though the third fall was marred in controversy. Mortos hit a low blow on Esfinge while the referee was distracted by a medic appearing to check on Mortos for a possible injury. Esfinge challenged Mortos to a singles match, but Mortos attacked Esfinge and took his mask off.

This was Mortos's first match in CMLL since 2011, where he competed as Semental. Mortos would depart CMLL and would later join AAA, first debuting for the "Tres Veces Estelar" as Machine Rocker before later becoming Black Taurus, achieving international praise and success. Mortos then left AAA before joining AEW as his current alias, The Beast Mortos.

Despite Esfinge's challenge, the match has not been made official. Fightful will have updates as more information is unveiled. You can view the results of the show here. For more results from CMLL & across the wrestling world, check out Fightful's results section.
