During WrestleMania 42 week this year, there were several issues with regard to talent being approached in their hotel by ‘fans’. While several current stars commented on the issues, former talent have also said their piece on the issues.

While speaking to Joel Pearl and Jeremy Lambert on Fightful’s In The Weeds, Big Damo was asked about the interactions in Las Vegas this year, noting his belief that maybe talent needed more security.

“I think, very quickly I need to say that the fans at WrestleCon were great. That is, I think it was more, like I was actually staying at the same hotel, obviously my wife is still with the WWE, so I didn’t see anything major myself, but I had heard a few grumblings and stuff from my former colleagues and whatever else, so one of the problems sometimes with putting everybody in the same building where there can be, you know, thousands of people can enter, then sadly things like this might happen, so maybe there needs to be better security and stuff like that for the talent, maybe. But for fans who are listening, when we’re at wrestling shows and everything else, we are switched on and we are ready to go and ready to meet and talk and do everything else. But when you’re at the bottom of the elevator about to get in to go to your room, sometimes it’s not the best time to approach us. Just because you’re switched off, you’re that close to your bed, you’re not really thinking so much about about the next step, which is get a shower, go to bed. Sometimes that’s maybe not us at our best. Maybe if you see somebody at the bottom of the elevators, you can maybe wait until they’re at the show. Maybe that’s the best idea for you to try and get your photos or whatever you need. But no, the fans at WrestleCon were incredible. As I said, that’s us. We’re at work. We’re ready for you. We’re ready to talk. Listen, I… had some lovely conversations with people like from all over the world, actually, and like, that’s one of the things that I do love about doing these events, and you end up meeting people like from places that you’ve, you’ve never been to for people for places that you have been before. For me, sometimes I’ll meet people from the study I was born in and things like that, which can, which can be a lot of fun.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Damo spoke about his well known ‘wrestlers are fuckin’ stupid’ tweet. You can read more about that here.
