Big E After Asuka’s Loss At WWE Backlash: “If This Is Goodbye, I Know She Will Be Dearly Missed”
Big E speaks about Asuka’s loss.
One of the matches on the bill for WWE’s 2026 Backlash Premium Live Event was a singles bout between Asuka and IYO SKY.
SKY bested Asuka to score the victory, and post-match, the two talents embraced each other and shared a moment in the ring. Asuka also waved to the audience before exiting the ring.
During the WWE Backlash post-show, Big E spoke about the post-match moment and Asuka’s potential future.
“I don’t (want to speculate) either. I wonder if this is a goodbye. I haven’t really seen Asuka this emotional. If this is goodbye, I know she will be dearly missed. She has been a pioneer; she has done just truly incredible things in the ring before she even got to WWE but has further staked her claim as an all-time great here in WWE. I don’t know what this means, but shout out to IYO SKY for another incredible performance. She’s someone I expect to be in that World Title picture again very, very soon.”
Before Backlash, Asuka posted a photo on Instagram, and the song she used for the post was Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way.’ In late April, Asuka’s partner, Kairi Sane, was released from WWE.
Asuka has been with the company since 2015.
