Bobby Lashley Got 'Hurt Business' From Boxing Coach, Discusses Original Idea With MVP

Bobby Lashley and MVP aligned on WWE TV in May 2020, forming a partnership that would lead Lashley to new heights.

Throughout 2020, The Hurt Business (Lashley, MVP, Cedric Alexander, & Shelton Benjamin) were consistently praised as the highlight of WWE Raw.

Speaking on Impaulsive with Logan Paul, Lashley explained where The Hurt Business name came from.

"We had the Hurt Business start up. I picked that up when I was fighting. One of my boxing coaches had The Hurt Business. We brought it to WWE and ran with it. Everybody loved it. During the pandemic, we were just killing it. We were coming out with suits on, pulling them off and going to fight. It looked cool and we just ran with it," he said.

Talking about his partnership with MVP, Lashley revealed the original idea behind the two aligning.

"When I first came on, there was a role I wanted to do. I wanted to do a role where it was a mix between The Rock and the players, a Suge Knight character, and Don King. Wrapped them all into one. That's what I wanted to do, but I think it was a better character for MVP. When I put it to him, we linked up and I was like 'I'll be your dude and we'll pick up other people.' That's how we started The Hurt Business," he recalled.

While Benjamin and Alexander were kicked out of the group, Lashley and MVP are still going strong with Lashley holding the WWE Championship.

Lashley is set to face Sheamus on the August 30 episode of WWE Raw.
