Bobby Steveson: No One Tried To Test My Amateur Skills In NXT, They All Knew Better
Bobby Steveson was respected in NXT.
Throughout his run with the brand, Steveson’s amateur background was always spotlighted in both his character work and his wrestling style. In a new interview with Fightful, Sean Ross Sapp asked Steveson if anyone ever tried to test him during his time at the WWE PC.
“No, they all knew better. They knew better. They knew what it was when I came through the door. We had a few guys that would try and then they found out real quick and then they’re like, ‘Oh, it is real.’”
Continuing on, Bobby Steveson spoke about a key part of his transition from amateur wrestling to professional wrestling.
“Amateur wise, we did a lot of rolls—like learning how to fall and learning how to grab people and like guide them. So like with amateur wrestling, obviously having someone that’s trying to fight you and you’re still able to move them around to put them in positions that they are trying not to be put in. But now with pro wrestling, you’re obviously working as a team. So when you got someone that knows how to be moved around and myself already knowing how to move someone around and put my hands on people, that transition was pretty easy.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Steveson spoke about the Diamond Mine faction in NXT. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
