Booker T said NWO were not acting like bad guys.
While Booker T was in WCW, he took a trip to Canada where Kevin Nash had wrestled before in WWF. In an interview on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Booker T tells the story of going to Canada and realizing he did not like what was going on with NWO.
"I had a match with Kevin Nash and it was my first match in Canada. He had been there many times before. People loved him as Diesel. Now he's coming back in WCW, he's still Diesel to those fans in Canada. He went out there with NWO and he gave everyone the NWO kiss. 'NWO In The House!' Everyone in the crowd erupted. I'm back in the back listening to this like 'he's the bad guy,'" said Booker T. "I walked out of the curtain and they booed the crap out of me. That's when I knew NWO, the bad guys was killing the business," he continued.
Booker T said NWO did not want fans to boo them but wanted the cheers despite being booked as the bad guys. He said he believes it had an effect on wrestling as a business.
"The NWO single handily almost ruined the business as far as bad guys, good guys" said Booker T.
In WCW, Booker T and Kevin Nash wrestled against each other in the tag-team division and had a few matches for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. According to Booker T, He was asked to join NWO at one point. He turned it down because he wanted to be his own wrestler.
