Briyante RB Speaks On His Combat Cult Wrestling Debut, More | INTERVIEW
Briyante RB speaks with Fightful ahead of his appearance on Combat Cult Wrestling Arcana on April 12, 2026.
Briyante is a standout wrestler coming from the North of Mexico and from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. He has become a standout in the region, competing in multiple promotions, including ROH, AAA, and many more.
The Rio Grande Valley Native will debut for Combat Cult Wrestling in the event Arcana on April 12 at the Historic Cine del Rey Theatre in McAllen, Texas. He will face Criss Austin in a singles match. Briyante. Fightful’s Luis Pulido spoke with him ahead of his appearance, as well as previous appearances in IWRG, AAA, ROH, and more.
Combat Cult Debut.
Briyante spoke ahead of his debut for Combat Cult and his relationship with Austin.
To be honest, I’m really happy. You could say that my debut with Combat and facing Austin—to be honest, he’s a colleague I respect a lot. I’ve hung out with him backstage; I’ve watched his matches. He’s a local wrestler from the Texas Valley border who’s very talented, but, as you know, Bryante RB has a long track record. I’m still a very young wrestler, but at the same time, I’m already very experienced.
Heading to Las Vegas for WRLD of Lucha/ Previously Appearing in IWRG.
Briyante also spoke to us about his upcoming appearance on Gringo Loco’s WLRD of Lucha. He will team with Mexa Boys (Spider Fly & Noisy Boy) against Rey Horus & Mala Fama (Latigo & Toxin). He spoke about this appearance.
That’s right, bro! I’ve had the chance to work really well with the Mexas before. I’ve already teamed up with them. And what can I say about Mala Fama? They’re a tough bunch—I’ve also faced them in other parts of the U.S. and Mexico, including Látigo. I’ve gone up against him a few times in Canada. And Rey Horus—this will actually be the first time I’ve faced him. We’ve been in the same corner, but now having him as an opponent is also a challenge that’s proving a bit tricky for me because he knows how to work the air as well.
Briyante also detailed his previous appearance with the standout Naucalpan promotion Grupo Internacional Revolucion de Lucha Libre (IWRG).
To be honest, I’m really glad I got to play at IWRG in Mexico City. I know the Mexa guys right there, and since we’re already pretty compatible, honestly, I feel very, very confident and totally motivated—not just that we’re going to do a great job, but also to remind people there who don’t know that we already have a track record in Mexico, and because of that, I know a lot of these colleagues in Mexico City.
Repping 956 on ROH.
In February 2024, AEW hosted a set of AEW Collision & ROH tapings live on Bert Ogden Arena in McAllen, Texas. He teamed up with fellow indie standout Sayrus GT against The Workhorsemen. He spoke to us about his experience in that taping & his ROH.
I think that when we got that email inviting us to the event, we were both in shock—I mean, we weren’t exactly excited, but from the very beginning, they told us it wasn’t certain we’d actually get to fight; we were just there “just in case,” right? Still, everything was up in the air; it was like a coin toss. I just showed up an hour before the show started, and they told us, “You know what? At 5:50, Sayrus GT and Brillante RB: you two are going to wrestle,” and we were like, “Hurry up and get changed, start the photo session, and then get in the ring.” But it was a really nice experience. An unforgettable experience that, honestly, served as a springboard for both him and me. The crowd really loved it—obviously, it was our home turf. It filled us with pride to see that our people from the 956 area code were supporting us in that match, and thanks to the people who welcomed us so warmly, I was able to return to Ring of Honor and have more of these appearances. Thanks to that, my work didn’t just grow—my career took off, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’m being given, both with Ring of Honor on several occasions and on television with AAA, which happened in the same year.
Tres Veces Estelar.
Shortly after that appearance on ROH, he made his debut with AAA at the Showcenter Complex in Monterrey, Mexico, back in 2024. He detailed how that came to be and how his situation with AAA changed following the merger with WWE.
When I got the call from AAA. In fact, from that moment on, I joined Triple A thanks to Mr. Jorge Hernández and Roberto Figueroa, who are currently working on a project with the company 3Ball to bring AAA to the United States—specifically to Texas. Thanks to them—that is, they gave me the opportunity to join AAA. Well, they called us in very early to the office at the Monterrey arena, and we had time to get to know the place a little; the venue is huge and beautiful, and thank God it was also a very good match. I came away with the victory that day—my debut with a win—which was a beautiful moment because my mom went to the event, my wife, my sister, my brother-in-law; a large part of my family was there that day, and I was very happy—not just because of the opportunity I was given—and later on, I returned to compete again at the same venue, ShowCenter; I’ve seen it on TV, and we’ve gotten just as good a reaction. I thought that, from there, I said, “Now they’re going to pick me up,” but then the AAA acquisition by WWE happened, and after that, it stopped for the independents. They stopped bringing independent talent to their televised events.
Representing Tamaulipas & RGV.
The 956 area is currently having a standout moment in wrestling. With Laredo Kid making history as AAA Cruiserweight Champion, Komander standing out on CMLL & AEW, and Los Gemelos Diablo becoming standouts in CMLL’s tag division, he spoke about representing the area on both a national & international stage. Briyante also spoke to us about his experience facing Komander and how they felt representing the area on ROH.
To be honest, the standard of living here on the border has improved quite a bit. In fact, almost everyone wants to come to the border now because there are a few more opportunities here with companies—it might sound bad, but—well, because the pay is a little better compared to down south. Now everyone wants to come up north. But honestly, it brings me back to how good it feels to see that guys from Tamaulipas or right here, from the 956 area code, are making it big. Honestly, it fills me with pride because it means there really is talent up here in the north and that we’re a group that wants to stand out—and, little by little, we’re making it happen, right? That day I got to face Komander in Ring of Honor. Honestly, it was a nice moment for both of us because he told me he was glad to see me there and that they gave me the opportunity to wrestle against him and AR Fox. And what can I say? The match was very fast, but very nice, and Tony Khan loved it. I mean, he looked at us and told us, personally: “Very, very good match.” So, with that, I said, “We did a good job,” and from then on, well, what can I say, right? Laredo, Komander, the Gemelos Diablos, among others, are already reaching the level we’ve all been hoping for.
What is next for Briyante?
To finalize, Briyante spoke about his future goals. He mentioned getting more bookings in GCW, returning to AAA or ROH, and even hoping to make his debut in Japan.
No one’s ever put it quite like that before. You’re not the first person to ask me that, though. Well, it’s a good question. Look at how this year has gone so far—to be honest, I’m trying not to put pressure on myself anymore in the sense that I want something and I’m going to push for it until I get it, because I’ve realized that the more you push for something that isn’t meant for you, well, sometimes it can bring you down too, right? So, I’m letting life put things in my path, and letting God take care of everything. But of course, I’m still giving it my all to be ready for every moment. Going back to your question, honestly, I think, given how the year is going, I’d like to have more appearances with GCW because it’s an independent promotion, very important in recent years, that can take us to the next level, which is what I want to do: reach one of the best promotions in the world. Well, to keep getting more opportunities; I’m still hoping they’ll reach out to me again for Ring of Honor, I’m still hoping AAA will take notice of me again, or, why not, now that AEW is with the Council, to also have opportunities with people from the World Wrestling Council, because, well, at one point I was also part of the Council. I trained with the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) for a few months; I left for certain reasons, but that’s still one of my goals. I want to win over the GCW fans a little more, then move on to a major promotion and establish myself as one of the best wrestlers here in the Valley and along the border. To wrap things up, I think what would make me say, “You know, I’ve done everything I wanted to do?” Well, that would also be making it to Japan. Believe me, Japan is my dream. I hope to achieve it because I’m going to achieve it—you’ll see, lord willing.
