Buddy Matthews Cleared To Compete

Buddy Matthews is back in the mix.

Back in May 2026, Buddy Matthews appeared for a promotion in Australia and got physical in the ring. He added that he would be officially cleared to compete by October. He suffered an ankle injury in February 2025 and has been out of action since then.

Taking to his Instagram, Matthews posted a video to announce he’s cleared to compete. Matthews wrote:

“Before stepping back into the ring, there was one final hurdle.

After suffering a serious ankle injury at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, Buddy Matthews begins the final stage of his comeback—getting medically cleared to compete again.

Matthews is under contract to All Elite Wrestling. His last match was at Grand Slam Australia, where he faced Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship.
