Charlotte Flair knows what it's like to main event a pay-per-view. She main evented WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 in the first-ever women's Hell in a Cell match against Sasha Banks and she main evented WWE WrestleMania 35 against Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch in a triple threat bout.
The women were back in the main event at Survivor Series 2019 with Lynch taking on Bayley and Shayna Baszler. The match wasn't well-received by the majority of fans, who questioned the work and why it was in the main event.
Speaking to Gary Cassidy of Sportskeeda, Charlotte gave her thoughts on the backlash surrounding women's main event.
"I feel the same way [Becky] does," she said. "But I think that's with anything. The expectations are higher but they kind of are because it doesn't happen as often. If we were main eventing every single pay-per-view, they wouldn't be talked about as much. I think what it boils down to is the number on the roster. There's so many more male superstars than females. So, if there's a bad main event, it's talked about for weeks. Even when we had the first Royal Rumble, had that been bad, 'well, we can't do it.'"
Becky previously spoke out on the issue, saying no one questions if the men have a bad main event, but if she does, people wonder if women should be main eventing.
