Chelsea Green Says Being A ‘Karen’ Was Not Her Idea, Saw It Online Before WWE Royal Rumble

Chelsea Green talks about becoming a "Karen" on WWE TV.

Chelsea Green, every week on WWE TV, demands to talk to someone's manager. However, Chelsea says that she did not devise a plan for herself to play a "Karen" on television.

Speaking to Ryan Satin on the Out of Character podcast, Green reveals that she heard about the plans for her character online before returning to WWE in the 2023 Royal Rumble match.

"It was not an idea that I had. Let me tell you, I am not shy. I will pitch 101 things, and the internet makes fun of me for it. I don’t care," said Chelsea. "My favorite thing to do is to come up with pitches that are so ridiculous and out there. Karen was not my idea. I’ve come up with versions of this Karen, but I actually went to the Royal Rumble, and I believe it was about 1 PM that I saw on the internet that ‘Chelsea is going to debut with a Karen character.’ I went up to someone and went, ‘What is this? I’m coming out for the Royal Rumble, and I’m me. What is happening?’ Maybe a couple of hours later, they came back and were like, ‘We’ll deal with that once the Rumble is over and sort out your character.’ I was like, ‘I want to start it tonight. If I don’t win this thing, when I get out of the ring, I’m going to start being a Karen.’ I just did it."

Chelsea says she's thankful she asked about the plans for her character because if she was going to be put in a very specific role, she wanted to execute to the best of her ability.

"I’m so thankful that I asked. I felt stupid for asking, because it could have totally been made up, but I just needed to know. For me, if I’m going to be a character, I’m going to be that character. You will not catch me out of that character on camera, so I wanted to start it the minute I could. If that meant, when I got eliminated, if that meant when I won, if it meant when I did my entrance; I wanted to be Karen," she said.

Chelsea Green will team up with Sonya Deville to challenge for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship on the May 29 episode of Monday Night Raw.
