Chris Jericho has been wrestling for over 30 years and remains in a high-profile position in AEW. Despite being 50 years old, Jericho isn't showing signs of winding down his career, showing up to weekly television in AEW and wrestling on television as well.
When will Jericho finally hang up the boots?
That's what Steve Austin asked when the two sat down on Broken Skull Sessions.
Jericho answered by saying, "In 2005, I thought I was done. In 2015, I just worked house shows, no TV. 2018, I thought I was done. I still feel good and can have the best match on the show at any point in time. The last pay-per-view we had in AEW, the Young Bucks vs. Jericho and MJF, they said it was the best match on the show. As long as I don't feel like I'm a parody of myself -- this is why you said you're never coming back. If you're not Stone Cold Steve Austin, the way Stone Cold Steve Austin wants to be -- the moment I feel I can't do that, I'll be gone. Right now, I'm in such a great place with all these great people and amazing talent, it's fun. Maybe a year, two years, maybe I'll explode into dust in a week."
Jericho also mentioned his ventures outside of wrestling including his podcast, band, cruise, and more.
The former AEW World Champion is not only set to compete in singles action on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite, he will be part of Blood & Guts on May 5.
Jericho appearing on Broken Skull Sessions is a monumental moment in wrestling as it marks a top AEW talent appearing on a WWE-produced program.
When discussing what the moment means for wrestling and fans, Jericho said it's all about the love of "this business."
"Not only is [this interview] historical. 'WWE, AEW, oh my gosh.' It's not about that. It's about the business of wrestling. We respect it and love it. I don't care what the brand is, I want it to continue forever. To watch all this stuff and to do this show, I'm not a guy who looks back. What's the point of looking back? To look back and see all these clips and these great things you showed, it's heartwarming to see. Thank you to WWE and Vince and Tony Khan for allowing me to be here. This goes above and beyond a company. It's about the love of wrestling. Nobody in the world loves wrestling more than Steve Austin and Chris Jericho," he said.
