Chris Jericho has always taken an advisor role in AEW, willing to help anyone who seeks advice.
Jericho has previously commented how he feels like Vince McMahon in AEW as there is a line of people waiting to talk to him.
Appearing on Sunday Night's Main Event, Jericho revealed he does have an executive title in AEW to coincide with his backstage role in the company.
"I think I literally have a position, Senior Advisor to the CEO, I'm not kidding. There was a time with EVPs and everything, I was like, 'I don't want to have anything to do with it.' These guys are doing a lot of work at the beginning with finding sponsors, going to Cracker Barrel, helping book towns, doing all this stuff. I didn't want anything to do with that. On the creative side of things, I worry about Chris Jericho's storyline first and foremost, I don't know if I have a lot of say. Obviously, Tony is the boss and that's one thing that has really grown and I knew it from the start. A lot of guys thought, 'Oh, we're a big committee and team.' No, there needs to be one boss and that's Tony Khan. Then you file down from there. If Tony looks at a certain section and asks my advice or opinion, I'll give my feedback An advisor is a great way to explain what I do for AEW. Not just for Tony Khan, but for a lot of guys," he said.
Jericho has also commented on how AEW has held more production meetings to cut down on similar segments, which is something fans have criticized the company over.
Another criticism has been too many factions or wrestlers being used on television.
Jericho said about the number of factions and talent on television, "Tony Khan likes factions. If you work in New Japan, everyone is with a faction. When I go there, I feel lonely. I have no friends. He likes having factions and here's the real reason why, in my opinion, he likes having people involved. Everyone on our show has a purpose and a point. I would never suggest that someone doesn't get TV time. They're getting TV time and they are on the show, which they wouldn't be if they weren't involved in a faction. One of the things people are saying is, 'there were 75 people on Dynamite.' That might be true, but look at what we're doing. The main event was Jungle Boy vs. Darby Allin and the crossover was Hikura Shida vs. Tay Conti. We are building our own stars. If you have to see 75 people on the show, just go with it because out of those 75, hopefully, over the next three or four years, we will build them all into stars. Some will be opening match, some will be main event on pay-per-view, but that's how you get started; give them experience and face time on TV. It's very important when you're trying to build the company from scratch."
Jericho will be involved in arguably the biggest faction match to date on Wednesday, May 5 when he competes alongside The Inner Circle in Blood & Guts against The Pinnacle.
