Chris Jericho Thinks His Run As Undisputed WWF Champion Was Terrible

Y2J is not too high on his run as Undisputed Champion.

Throughout his run[s] in the WWE, Chris Jericho always made sure to remind fans and fellow wrestlers that he is the first Undisputed WWF Champion and added in that he defeated The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same night to do so. Jericho held the two belts from December of 2001 until WrestleMania 18 when he lost the Undisputed Championship to Triple H.

Chris Jericho is not too fond of his run as Undisputed Champion as he revealed to Inside The Ropes during a sit-down interview. Jericho stated that the angles during his title run were not good and he shared an idea that he had for his feud with Triple H but Triple H did not want to go through with the angle because HHH felt that his character would not fall for the tricks that Jericho's character was trying to pull and here's Y2J's full thoughts about his run as Undisputed WWF Champion:

“I was the first Undisputed Champion but that was the end of the line. It took me seven years to win the title back again, and that run with the Undisputed Championship -- to win it was great but the whole run with it was terrible for me, in my opinion. The angles were the sh*ts. I was the champion but I’d be fourth on the show. My original idea for that angle was: Triple H was hurt and when he came back, I was gonna say, ‘Dude, your wife is having an affair on you’, and she’s having an affair with Rob Van Dam and [it was to be believed] that I had video proof and then go into the ring and say, ‘Listen, we don't see eye to eye but I can’t stand for this anymore. Your wife is having an affair’ and then show a video of a guy with a ponytail making out with Stephanie in bed or whatever and then turn around and it’s me with Rob Van Dam-like hair and I’m standing behind with a sledgehammer and I just f*cking kill him, which starts with me and Stephanie and we’re together and we’re in love and that’s kind of the whole angle and Triple H wouldn’t go for it." Jericho shared. "He said that, ‘My character would never be so stupid to fall for this and my wife would never have an affair on me’ so it ended up being that Stephanie and I were business associates and she was more of the focal point than me and I remember seeing a WrestleMania graphic, for the main event of WrestleMania [18], and you see this still shot and it was Triple H versus Chris Jericho with Stephanie McMahon but instead of Stephanie McMahon being behind me, she was in the front and I was behind her. I remember calling Kevin Dunn like, ‘Dude, I’m the champion. I get what’s going on but you can’t… you gotta change that graphic. It’s like Triple H versus Stephanie with me in the background.’ It was just more of a forgotten thing. So the build up for the match wasn’t great. The positioning of the match wasn’t great, and in my opinion the match wasn’t great. But I can say I was in the main event of WrestleMania, so there you go.”

Both Triple H and Chris Jericho have marquee matches coming up as Jericho is clashing with Kenny Omega at AEW's 'Double Or Nothing' event on May 25th and Triple H is facing Batista at WrestleMania 35 in a No Holds Barred match.
