Chris Jericho Wants To Challenge For The IWGP Heavyweight Championship Next

Y2J wants his shot at the top prize in New Japan.

At Wrestle Kingdom 13 today, Chris Jericho lost the IWGP Intercontinental Championship to Tetsuya Naito after holding onto the belt for nearly eight full months. Y2J left the Tokyo Dome on the losing end but made sure to take out some young lions on his way out and once the match was all said and done Jericho took on Instagram to show off some of the war wounds from his match with Naito.

Y2J also spoke with the media after his match and the former ten-time Intercontinental Champion stated that the next goal on his radar is the IWGP Heavyweight Championship which is now in the hands of Hiroshi Tanahashi. Yahoo! Japan has the full transcription of what Jericho said and "The Ayatollah Of Rock N Rolla" made it clear that it is a big mistake if people think that his time with New Japan is in the books.

“I just lost the belt I took from Naito in June last year. It is a big mistake if you think that the time with me and New Japan Pro Wrestling will be over." Jericho expressed. "I've kept the Intercontinental belt for the longest in 2018. So let me tell you, I want to challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight belt, unreasonable or not.”
