Chris Masters On Getting Released From WWE, CM Punk Mentioning Him By Name In A Promo

It sucks when you constantly try to improve yourself, only to get the rug pulled under you.

Chris Masters, also known as Chris Adonis from Impact Wrestling, was recently on CLICKON Sports and talked about a number of subjects, including his release from the WWE and the CM Punk promo that followed after, calling him out by name. Many were surprised by his release from WWE in 2011, especially when some considered Masters one of the more improved talents in the company at the time.

"I was heartbroken about the whole thing" Masters told CLICKON. "I was more heartbroken that it was being taken away from me because I enjoyed it so much. In terms of CM Punk, it was nice because he added that little bit in for me which I knew he actually meant, because he?d pointed it out to me several times. I appreciated that, but I also knew it was something that was talked about by the powers that be so I was a little conflicted. I was being used as a storyline."

Sporting a powerful physique, Masters was signed by the WWE in 2003 and made his deubt a couple of years later, being associated with the company off and on until 2011. He had big success at the start of his run, but his push eventually faded after a couple of wellness test violations.
