Cody Has No Grudge Over WWE Filing Late Trademark Renewal On 'Cody Rhodes'

On May 15, WWE filed a late renewal on the trademark 'Cody Rhodes,' citing COVID-19 as the reason their filing was late. The trademark lapsed on April 13, leading Cody to file a trademark on the name that day.

Cody's application received an initial refusal due to the similarity with WWE?s registration. Cody has six months from June 30 to respond to the "likelihood of confusion" letter sent by the USPTO or else his trademark will be abandoned.

Taking to social media, Cody responded to WWE's late renewal application.

Cody dropped the 'Rhodes' name following his WWE departure in 2016. WWE initially filed for the trademark in June 2007 while Cody was signed to OVW. The registration date went through on October 13, 2009.
