Cody Rhodes: AEW Will Be About Collaboration, Not Micromanagement And Scripts

No scripts in AEW.

When All Elite Wrestling finally debuts on TNT later this year, fans can expect a different kind of wrestling program than WWE. AEW has been adamant that they will be a more sport-centric product with a focus on the in-ring action. In an interview with WrestlingNews.co at the Turner upfronts on Wednesday, Cody Rhodes also revealed that scripts will be out the window for promos.

Rey Mysterio And Dragon Lee vs. Berto And Angel Added To 4/26 WWE SmackDown

"You may not see one scripted promo," stated Cody. "When it comes to promos, if we invested in you and hired you, we already know your voice. We just want to put the voice out there for more people to hear. We have these great collaborators who want to make this all work. Collaboration? Yes. Micromanagement? No. Scripted? No."

Brandi Rhodes added, "We're honest when we say that we want it to be very sports-centric. In order to do that, it needs to be more focused on the bell-to-bell. Those types of stories, less so the drama and behind the scenes."

Tony Khan recently told ITV that he identifies wrestling as a sport. You can read Khan's full comments by clicking here.
