Cody Rhodes Explains Why Arn Anderson Fell Off The Ring Apron At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam

Arn Anderson is still getting used to AEW's ring dimensions.

On September 22, AEW made its New York City debut when they hosted Dynamite: Grand Slam from the historic Arthur Ashe stadium. One of the marquee matches on the card saw Malakai Black defeat Cody Rhodes. During the bout, Arn Anderson got on the ring apron and attempted to round the corner post, but fell down instead.

During the latest episode of Shot of Brandi, guest Stephen Amell asked about what happened. Cody Rhodes came out from behind-the-scenes and offered the following explanation:

"We designed our ring based on the New Japan specs. The aprons are extra wide so the guys and girls can do stuff on the apron. What happens, is the post is farther away. Normally, you can just wrap around the post and get to the other side. [Inaudible] That was the distance from about right here [holds arms out]. Arn's not familiar with that and the ropes are smaller too, so he went to make that switch and there was nothing to hold onto. It's the craziest thing a referee has ever told me, when Paul Turner said, 'He fell down.' [I said] 'Who fell down?' Then I just saw Arn. He's a legend though and he threatened to shoot me."

As of recent weeks, Cody Rhodes has been dealing with a disgruntled Arn Anderson, who has been acting like quite the Stinky Pete while publicly voicing his disappointment in Cody Rhodes and his somewhat itchy trigger finger.

Cody says that Arn Anderson has something fun planned for him on the upcoming Saturday night Dynamite on October 16, 2021, and that out of respect for Arn, he will let him lead.

Fightful will have live coverage of Saturday night Dynamite as it airs on October 16.
